Dapitan City: A weekend Escape

Dapitan is one of the cities in the province of Zamboanga del Norte and is the gateway to Visayas Region.
This is the place where our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal was exiled and is now known as “Rizal Shrine”.

… And there’s a beautiful sunset overlooking the shrine.

At the Boulevard, you will find the long stretch of beach resorts and “ihaw-ihaw” restaurants.

Resort and Pension houses are quiet affordable in Dapitan. We stayed at Villar Pilar Resort.

For how many years now, our family always do this road trip for holy week back in our home town Iloilo. This is my 2nd road trip and still, I enjoyed the 24hrs land trip.

We left Gensan at 4 o'clock in the morning and arrived in Iloilo city the next day. Its a good feeling that i have traveled mindanao to visayas and passes by different provinces and regions.

At 8am we had  a stop-over at Malabang, Lanao del sur for some breakfast.

And, we are off the road again for another 4-5hrs going to Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte to catch RORO (roll-on/roll-off) barge to Dumaguete, Negros Oriental.
The Roadtrippers

Dapitan to Dumaguete is a 4-hour boat ride. But, there is a faster barge going to Dumaguete but it only leaves at 5am in the morning travel time is only 2 hours.

We left Dapitan at 2pm and arrived Dumaguete at past 6pm and before we hit the road again we had a sumptuous dinner at Jo's Chicken Inato which is originally came from Dumaguete.

After a satisfying dinner, were off the road again and now we are bound to Bacolod city. Dumaguete City is a 5hour drive to Bacolod city. AT past midnight we arrived at Bacolod City and spent the rest of the night at the Roro port waiting for our barge to Iloilo City.

We left Bacolod Port @ 5:45 am and we arrived in Dumangas, Iloilo at past 7am.

And it's a home sweet home!!! ♥
