Spending Christmas 2007 in the islands of Krabi with my sister and her friends in Thailand Ate Lei and Gio.
From Bangkok we rode a public bus going to Krabi which took us for about 8 hours of travel. Leaving Bangkok at 7pm with several stop overs along the road and arrived Krabi ay 7am. From the bus terminal, we headed to the boat terminal going to the islands of Krabi.
First stop: Rai Lay Beach
Rai Lay is a haven for family vacationist. Tourists are just everywhere lying in the sun not minding the scorching heat of the sun. (well, we are one of those..hehehe ) From the sun rises up to dawn we are just infront of the beach, relaxing to the max ang exploring every bit of the island.
Tonsai Beach
- Tonsai Beach is a neigboring beach of Rai lay. As we went there for adventure, we crossed a forest and we don't have any idea where will it lead us. We just follow the path and with awe we reached Tonsai Beach hungry, thirsty and tired. (this is adventure!!!) During low tide you can just cross over the beach of Rai Lay.
Tonsai is basically a haven for wall/rock climbing enthusiast.
Phra Nang Beach
Phra Nang beach is just on the other side of Rai Lay. Phra Nang is well known of the Phra Nang Cave.
Koh Phi Phi
Koh Phi Phi is almost an hour away from Rai Lay Beach. Crusin' on our way to Koh Phi Phi is exciting with all the blue waters around and passing through little islands of Krabi. We spent our Christmas day in Koh Phi Phi Island. On the jetty port lots of tourists are flocking leaving and just arrived in the island.
Koh Phi Phi is the setting of the movie the beach starred by Leonardo Di Caprio.
Though the island is struck by tsunami, the island is still beautiful but you can still see some memories of the tsunami.
We left the islands of Krabi on the anniversary of the tsunami.
Indeed, a relaxing holiday escape for the four of us who were stressed from work. ☺ ☺ ☺
